About BMI Calculator
The OmniTools360 BMI Calculator works out your Body Mass Index from your height and weight, in metric (cm, kg) or imperial (feet, inches, pounds) units. It shows your BMI to one decimal place and the matching weight category: underweight, normal, overweight, or obesity range. It is free, private, and runs in your browser.
How does the BMI Calculator work?
BMI is weight divided by height squared. In metric mode, the tool uses kilograms and metres; in imperial mode, it uses pounds and total inches and multiplies by 703. The result is then compared with the standard adult BMI ranges.

Frequently Asked Questions about BMI Calculator
What is a healthy BMI for adults?
A healthy BMI for most adults is between 18.5 and 24.9. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25 to 29.9 is overweight, and 30 or higher is in the obesity range. These ranges come from the World Health Organization and apply to adults aged 20 and over, not to children or teenagers.
How is BMI calculated?
BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared. For example, 70 kg and 1.75 m gives 70 / 3.0625 ≈ 22.9. In pounds and inches, multiply weight by 703 and divide by height in inches squared. This calculator supports both unit systems.
Is BMI accurate for everyone?
No. BMI is a simple screening number and does not measure body fat directly. It can overestimate fat in muscular people and underestimate it in older adults. It also does not consider age, sex, or ethnicity. Use it as a general guide only; it is not medical advice, so talk to a doctor about your health.
Can I calculate BMI in feet and pounds?
Yes. Select the Imperial (lbs, ft) tab and enter your height in feet and inches plus your weight in pounds. The calculator converts your height to total inches and uses the formula BMI = 703 × weight / height². For 5 ft 9 in and 154 lb, the BMI is about 22.7.
Is this BMI calculator suitable for children?
No. This calculator uses adult BMI categories. For children and teens aged 2 to 19, BMI must be compared with age and sex growth charts (BMI-for-age percentiles), which this tool does not provide. Ask a doctor or use a dedicated child BMI chart for anyone under 20.
